VUT EMPLOYEE HELPS OTHERS BALANCE THEIR MENTAL AND PHYSICAL HEALTH

Smartty Suzan Lebelo is a fully qualified Physical and Holistic Therapist with an impressive academic background, including degrees from the then Rand Afrikaans Universiteit (RAU) and Technikon Witwatersrand (Wits Tech), as well as the Saint Francis University of Health and Allied. She is a member of various professional organisations and continuously attends seminars and conferences to stay up to date with the latest developments in Sports Therapy and Holistic massage.
Her career at VUT started with work-integrated learning (WIL) opportunities, leading to impactful roles within the university. She is actively involved in sports therapy, providing rehabilitation and treatment to athletes, and has been recognized for her exceptional care and dedication with several awards, including the Leadership in Rehabilitation Award and the Humanitarian Service Award.
Smartty is dedicated to empowering others, promoting wellness, and creating a culture of well-being within the VUT community and beyond. She believes in the power of holistic treatments and aims to help clients achieve balance in their mental and physical health.
As a therapist, she is driven by the desire to make a positive difference in people’s lives and promote happiness and improved quality of life. Smartty emphasizes the importance of work-life balance and self-care, encouraging individuals to find strategies that bring joy and fulfilment to their daily routines.
With August being Women’s Month, Smartty highlights the significance of investing in women and creating a support system to uplift and empower them. She believes that a united network of women can lead to the socioeconomic empowerment of women in society.
