Ronel de Jager, a dedicated mother of two, serves as a Telecommunication Analyst within the IT Services Department at the Vaal University of Technology (VUT). With an impressive three decades of service, her commitment has been a cornerstone of the institution. In a conversation about her role among the esteemed women of VUT, Ronel shares, “My journey of 25 years within the IT Services department has been an honor and a privilege. The foundation of our positive work environment is built upon trust, strong teamwork, unwavering support, accountability, and equity.”

Ronel’s life is guided by her maternal instinct, and she often reflects on the tendency of women in her field to inadvertently neglect their families while pursuing career excellence. he emphasizes the significance of motherhood, expressing, “In today’s society, women wield substantial influence not only globally but within their own families. Our impact on the world is intricately linked to how we nurture, educate, and empower our children.”

Her authentic voice resonates as she acknowledges the evolving landscape for working mothers, underscoring that it is no longer merely a choice but an inherent reality. Skilfully juggling multifaceted roles remains a formidable challenge. “The art of gracefully managing the roles of spouse, mother, career-driven professional, and community contributor can be overwhelming,” she remarks.
