The banking institution ABSA met with the Vaal University of Technology’s executive on 14 June to hand over a cheque worth R6-million towards scholarships.
Because VUT accommodates a number of disadvantaged students, ABSA decided to make a generous contribution towards the education of poor, but deserving students.
ABSA has made donations amounting to R150 million to various universities and learning institutions this year. Their donation to VUT shows their commitment towards enhancing the effective partnership and valuable relationship they have with the institution.
Recognising the banking industry’s significant role in promoting education, Vice-Chancellor Prof Zide accepted the cheque with gratitude and acknowledged that the contribution would go a long way in assisting the institution attain its goals.
