Auditing student beats money blues with her creative baking skills
Being a student can be very stressful and challenging, you sometimes find yourself without pocket money and so many other options of getting it. However, there are students who are not letting that situation get the better of them.
VUT’s mission statement is to produce employable graduates who can make an impact in society. Through teaching and learning, the University further produces students who are not only aiming to be entrepreneurs but also aspire to create employment, thus contributing towards economic growth. One such student is Lehlogonolo Michelle Pheeha or Hloni, as she is known.
Hloni is a third year VUT internal Auditing student from Polokwane. She is just one of the students brave enough to put her skills into practice and make money from it. She owns a baking company called Hloni bakes. She bakes delicious birthday cakes, wedding, baby shower cakes, cupcakes, muffins and scones for any occasion. “I now have pocket money and am able to send money to my mom and my little brother too,” she says. Her passion for baking started at an early age.
“I am from a family that loves baking, my mom bakes and my grandmother used to bake as well, my passion began from watching them and helping out when they were baking. I then decided that apart from auditing it would be good for me to do something that will give me pocket money while studying,” states Hloni, and her business is surely growing.
In order to balance school work and running the business, Hloni prefers her orders to be placed at least two days before they are required. Her goal is to have her own bakery one day.
If you’d like to place an order for her yummy bakes you can contact Hloni on 079 697 3266. She is also on Instagram as @ Hloni _Bakes.
