The session was initiated by Ms Angie Mabona, a Human Resources Practitioner at VUT, who recognised the need for a space where staff and students could pause, reconnect, and draw strength through faith.

Hosted in the Desmond Tutu Great Hall, the session was guided by the energetic and engaging Programme Director, Mr Mushe Mapange. Far more than a religious gathering, the event served as a reminder of the power of shared humanity and collective prayer.

The purpose of the session was to reignite the spirit of prayer among both students and staff. Setting the tone for the service, Ms Esther Mavundla, Residence Chaplain at VUT, delivered a heartfelt message drawn from the Book of Nehemiah, highlighting the importance of faith and perseverance. She emphasised, “For us to make it in life, we need to call upon the Almighty.”

Adding to the sense of community, Ms Lucy Mohoto, a representative of the National Education, Health and Allied Workers’ Union (NEHAWU), also participated in the session. The gathering addressed various concerns facing students and staff, underscoring the importance of spiritual support in managing life’s challenges.

Through this shared moment of prayer, the VUT community reaffirmed its dedication to fostering a culture rooted in faith, hope, and resilience.

“VUT hosts a heartfelt prayer session for spiritual renewal, uniting staff and students in faith, reflection, and hope amid academic […]

[47

post-21677","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-latest-news-vaal-university-of-technology
["GET
