2 minutes read time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The Vaal University of Technology (VUT) hosted the Student Christian Organisation (SCO) Alumni Sunday on 7 September at its Vanderbijlpark Campus, drawing more than 100 alumni to a vibrant gathering of faith, fellowship, and community. The event not only celebrated the enduring legacy of the SCO but also reaffirmed the values of leadership, service, and gratitude that continue to shape the university\u2019s alumni.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The programme was led entirely by alumni, reflecting the strength of the SCO\u2019s tradition. Former president Mr Christian Mthethwa guided the proceedings as Master of Ceremonies, while Mrs Kgaugelo Nenjelele, a former Public Relations Officer, handled announcements. Mrs Dakalo Mudau, who once served as treasurer, led the offering. Adding a voice from the current generation, SCO Deputy President Ms Tumiso Mogano delivered an address thanking alumni for their ongoing support and dedication to the organisation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n A defining moment came from Prophet Tumi Tlamane, who served as SCO president in 1996 before becoming Student Representative Council (SRC) president the following year. His message, \u201cAlways honour the leaders who came before us and show them appreciation,\u201d struck a chord with the audience, underscoring the importance of gratitude and legacy-building.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Following the service, alumni and current executive members shared lunch and engaged in meaningful dialogue on strengthening the SCO chapter. Alumni pledged to provide tangible support for students and to remain closely connected with the organisation\u2019s evolving needs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The VUT Alumni Relations Office, a longstanding partner of the SCO, supported the initiative. Alumni contributions were also highlighted, reinforcing VUT\u2019s reputation for producing both academic leaders and socially conscious citizens. Among the practical gestures was the donation of sanitary towels, which will be distributed to a selected high school in the coming week, symbolising the alumni\u2019s commitment to uplifting communities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The SCO Alumni Sunday stood as a reminder of the unity, faith, and service that define the organisation.
