On 10 March 2026, the Vaal University of Technology (VUT) had the pleasure of hosting Ms Mose Petje, Africa Engagement Lead at Times Higher Education (THE), as part of an ongoing collaborative effort to strengthen the University\u2019s global visibility and strategic positioning in international rankings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ms Petje\u2019s engagement provided a valuable platform for dialogue on the role of data accuracy, research performance, and institutional strategy in enhancing VUT\u2019s standing within the global higher education landscape. Her visit focused on unpacking THE rankings metrics, methodologies, and evolving priorities, while also offering tailored guidance on how VUT can more effectively articulate its institutional strengths.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During her discussions with the VUT Internationalisation Committee, research stakeholders, and strategic planning teams, Ms Petje emphasised the importance of robust institutional data, collaborative research outputs, citation impact, and internationalisation initiatives. Her insights aligned closely with VUT\u2019s renewed commitment to research capacity development, global partnerships, and increased staff and student mobility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The engagement marks an important step in VUT\u2019s journey to strengthen its international profile and readiness for global rankings. By deepening relationships with ranking bodies such as THE, the University continues to position itself as a competitive institution within both the African and global higher education sectors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
