The Vaal University of Technology (VUT)\u2019s Technology Transfer and Innovation (TTI) unit recently showcased its growing impact within South Africa\u2019s innovation ecosystem through its participation in the inaugural South Africa Innovation Week, held from 18 to 20 March and hosted by the Technology Innovation Agency (TIA) at NASREC.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The platform enabled VUT to demonstrate its expanding capabilities in advanced manufacturing, research translation, and enterprise development. Visitors to the stand engaged with live demonstrations of the University\u2019s advanced 3D printing technologies, as well as its robotic Wire Arc Additive Manufacturing (WAAM) welding system, a key addition to VUT\u2019s specialised infrastructure supporting industry-relevant innovation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A highlight of the exhibition was a visit by newly appointed TIA Chief Executive Officer, Dr Zwanani Titus Mathe, who engaged with the team and viewed the technologies on display. His visit affirmed the strategic partnership between VUT and TIA and recognised the University\u2019s contribution to strengthening South Africa\u2019s innovation landscape.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The exhibition also reflected VUT\u2019s commitment to developing innovative talent beyond the campus. Learners from Dr Molefi Oliphant Maths, Science and ICT School of Specialisation in Bophelong participated alongside the University, showcasing a project developed with support from the Technology Station. Their involvement highlighted the institution\u2019s role in building early innovation pathways and supporting future scientists and engineers from surrounding communities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

TTI\u2019s presence was further strengthened through collaboration with supported Small, Medium, and Micro Enterprises (SMMEs), demonstrating the unit\u2019s role in advancing prototypes, supporting enterprise growth, and linking research capability to practical industry solutions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Participation in South Africa Innovation Week marked more than a technology showcase; it positioned VUT TTI as an active contributor to national innovation development, skills advancement, and strategic partnerships shaping South Africa\u2019s technological future.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
