Beyond the ceremony and celebration, there was a deeper sense of meaning. Sixty years of history converging in one moment, carried forward by a new generation.

Among those crossing the stage were seven members of the Student Representative Council (SRC), each representing a chapter of student leadership shaped within the institution. Among them was Mr Siphiwe Rulani Sadiki, whose journey reflects what it means to grow with the University and, in many ways, grow into it.

His story is not simply about graduating. It is about becoming. From his time as SRC Media and Publicity Officer to his current role within Corporate Communications, his path carries the imprint of both leadership and learning.

For Mr Sadiki, the SRC was never just a leadership position. It was preparation for the world beyond campus. He approached it as a space to test ideas, to understand responsibility, and to develop the discipline required in professional environments. It became a place where theory met reality, and where his voice found direction.

Reflecting on his journey, he offers a message grounded in awareness and accountability: “Opportunities are there, but you must be vigilant. The University brings them to you, but it is up to you to recognise them and act. You cannot afford to be passive.”

What stands out in his journey is how the University responded to his potential. Through mentorship, exposure, and access to institutional platforms, he was able to develop practical skills that extended beyond the classroom. Writing, storytelling, video production, and public engagement became part of his everyday learning, shaping a foundation for his professional life.

Today, as part of the Corporate Communications environment, his presence reflects a continuity that many institutions strive for but rarely achieve. He is not an outsider stepping in, but someone who understands the culture, the rhythm, and the voice of the University because he has lived it.

As VUT marks its 60th milestone, the graduation of SRC leaders like Mr Sadiki carries a particular significance. It signals an institution that does more than develop leaders for the outside world. It builds leaders who remain connected, who return, and who contribute to shaping its future.

For Mr Sadiki and his fellow SRC graduates, this moment is not only about academic success. It is about transition, from representation to responsibility, from student leadership to institutional contribution.

And in that transition lies the true meaning of the 60th generation. Not just a celebration of years, but a continuation of a legacy carried forward by those who are ready to lead.

“Discover the inspiring journey of Mr Siphiwe Rulani Sadiki, one of seven SRC members graduating at VUT, reflecting the University’s […]

[47

post-35702","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-latest-news-vaal-university-of-technology
["GET
