About Environmental Sciences
Environmental Science, by its nature, is an interdisciplinary field of study. This Diploma in Environmental Science is primarily a programme that will address scientific principles, concepts, and methodologies to understand the interrelationships of the natural world. A strong emphasis will be on hands-on laboratory work and field investigations. The ability to critically think about environmental issues and advance potential solutions will be a thread that connects all the modules from semester 1 to semester 6 (3 years).
The Environmental Science programme will address and advance the needs of society at a local, regional, national, and global level. It will empower students with practical scientific competence to analyze and interpret common degradation of vegetation, water resources and other quantifiable environmental problems. Students will have the capability of exploring and investigating the interrelationships in each situation, identify and analyze well-defined environmental problems, both natural and human-made, mitigating the effect associated with the relative risks these problems pose, and provide possible solutions for resolving and/or preventing them in the future.
