VUT STAFF, A TOP 3 FINALIST FOR THE HERS-SA HEWL AWARDS

Kediemetse Mokotsi, the Acting Executive Director for Advancement Department of the Vaal University of Technology (VUT) has made it to the Top 3 Finalists for the inaugural and much-coveted HERS-SA HEWL Awards: Women in Academic Administration category.
Kedi, as she is affectionately known to her colleagues and many within the higher education corridors, is a truly remarkable individual who has made significant and noteworthy contributions across various fields, leaving an indelible mark in society and the institutions alike. She is a woman who has consistently surmounted challenges and barriers, achieving her goals with determination and resilience, and thereby imprinting a legacy upon the institution.
Guided by strategic acumen, she has pioneered an inclusive approach to university advancement, propelling VUT’s advancement in critical areas such as donor relations, branding, recruitment, and alumni engagement. With a rich educational background encompassing an M-Tech in Marketing , Chartered Marketer (CM SA), Certified Public Relations Manager (CPRM) coupled with twenty eight (28) years of dedicated involvement in higher education, she has excelled in diverse roles spanning marketing, policy formulation, and quality assurance.
Her recent nomination for the HERS-SA HEWL Awards: Women in Academic Administration is a testament to her outstanding contributions. Her enthusiasm and dedication have propelled her to secure a place among the top 3 finalists. The much-anticipated announcement of the award winner will take place on the 7th of September 2023, during the Gala Dinner Award hosted at the DoubleTree by Hilton in Cape Town. Notably, the judges faced a challenging task in selecting a winner due to the exceptional calibre of all nominees. Every finalist will be honoured with a certificate, and a single recipient will be chosen for this prestigious category.
During her tenure at eh held of the Advancement Department, Kedi has showcased adeptness in committee representation and effective communication. Presently, she contributes actively to essential university committees while also assuming the role of chair for the Women in STEM Seminar fundraiser, a vital platform for annual educational promotion for high school learners.
Kedi’s tale stands as an inspirational one for generations to come, serving as a poignant reminder of the potential for positive transformation and advancement in all facets of life.
