VUT Delegates with the Dlamini family and donated groceries
The Vaal University of Technology (VUT) in partnership with, Social Cohesion and Ubaba Oqotho Men’s Forum, identified and officially adopted two homes in Bophelong Ext 16 and Ext 17. The two homes- Dlamini and Ramokhothwane have been adopted as their interventions for Mandela month commemoration as part of integrated project. The mandate is to see these families living an acceptable life within reasonable norms and help them to have a better livelihood.
Joseph Radebe, the Acting Director: Community Engagement said that this is the first phase of many to come. It is his dream to see these houses fully refurbished and beautiful, and he wishes to see the community getting involved. The Dlamini family in Ext 16 survived a house fire few years back, this led to the family having to rebuild their home from ground. This was a very traumatic experience for the whole family more so for the child as they witnessed it burn down.
Acting Director: Community Engagement- Mr Joseph Radebe with the Ramotlhothwane family and donated groceries
What drew Mr Radebe to Ramokhothwane’s family was the young girl’s medical health (epileptic) to name one of the chronic diseases she lives with. The generous groceries came in handy as the child needs nutrients in order to take her treatment daily.
Both families were short of words of gratitude, but they are very thankful and appreciate what these organisations are doing for them. Mrs Dlamini furthermore said that “may God bless you richly so you may help the next family”.
Ramokhothwane needs girls’ clothing aged between 11-12 years and 1-2 shoe sizes. Those who wish to assist may please leave their items at the Vaal University of Technology Main Reception and this gesture will highly be appreciated.
