The Vaal University of Technology (VUT) celebrated academic excellence on 22 April 2026 during its graduation ceremony, where Ms Kubheka Amanda Buhle was recognised for her outstanding performance. Originally from Ladysmith in KwaZulu Natal, she graduated cum laude and was named the overall top student in the Advanced Diploma in Internal Auditing. This achievement reflects both her commitment to a demanding academic programme and the University\u2019s role in producing high calibre graduates for the auditing profession.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Balancing the technical demands of auditing with extensive research requirements, Ms Kubheka navigated a rigorous academic journey. She described the experience as both challenging and rewarding, highlighting the discipline required to sustain high performance throughout her studies. \u201cPersonally, it means I have overcome a lot. The late nights and hard work have finally paid off. It was not easy balancing research, and accounting was overwhelming at times, but I pushed through,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Her achievement speaks not only to individual perseverance, but also to the programme\u2019s broader academic standards. By emerging as the top performer within a large student cohort, she positions herself as a highly capable professional entering the auditing field.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Reflecting on her path to success, Ms Kubheka emphasised the value of self discipline and long term focus over rigid study techniques. \u201cI would not say I had specific strategies; it was more about dedication. I know where I come from and what is expected of me, not just from my parents, but from myself,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She further noted that making the most of available opportunities was essential to her progress. \u201cWhen you are given an opportunity, you have to take it and give it your best.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Beyond academic performance, the qualification has equipped her with a mindset suited to an evolving professional landscape. She highlighted the importance of continuous learning and collaboration in a field that demands precision, accountability and ethical integrity. \u201cIt has taught me always to keep learning and to ask questions. You will not know everything, and that is okay. Asking for help helps you grow,\u201d she explained.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As the first in her family to achieve this milestone, Ms Kubheka carries a strong sense of responsibility as a role model to her younger siblings. She credits self-motivation as a key driver behind both her success and her future aspirations. \u201cI am proud of what I see. I want to keep growing and become someone I am proud of, so I can also inspire them,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Her achievement reflects the power of higher education to produce graduates who combine academic excellence with purpose and self-leadership, contributing meaningfully to their profession and to society.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
