Teaming up to give back to the children

This year marks the 100^th birthday of our much-loved and celebrated hero, Nelson Mandela. Every year on his birthday, International Mandela Day, people all over the world are encouraged to give back to their community in any way, shape or form and share the values and teachings of the selfless great man.

The Vaal University of Technology’s Community Engagement Department, together with the Gauteng Department of Sports and Recreation, dedicated their Mandela Day by giving back to the local community. The teams partnered to improve the Ikageng Child and Youth Care Centre based in Vanderbijlpark by doing minor renovations such as cleaning the centre, painting the walls and installing new doors. They also purchased food parcels and gave the children gifts.

Let’s continue spreading the love and sharing with others because “umuntu ngumuntu ngabantu”!
