The Vaal University of Technology 2018 registration process commenced smoothly on Monday, 8 January. Successful applicants are being admitted to their courses of choice in the various programs on offer at the four faculties and are looking forward to an exciting and fruitful academic year.
Mrs Sally Dzingwa, who is the Acting Senior Deputy Registrar at VUT, has indicated that on the second day of registrations, the number of registered students was sitting on 1439. It is anticipated that over 6000 first year students will be registered for 2018. Procedural processes are put in place to assist the students and to ensure that everything runs smoothly. Dedicated members of staff have also been placed in allocated venues to assist and solve the difficulties students face in complying with the required process. The EFF (Economic Freedom Fighters) student reps are also giving out free sanitary towels (pads) to prospective female students.
Manqoba Mbuli and Katleho Baloyi, are happily registered first year graphic design students, they said the registration process was an ease for them because they did not spend long hours standing in the queue. They are now happy and looking forward to being part of the VUT community.
Mrs Dzingwa urged prospective students to check the admission criteria for programs that they are interested in before they apply. She also noted that they have made available on the VUT website a self-check facility for applicants to monitor the change/s in their application statuses at www.vut.ac.za/status/.
“All walk ins (those who are only applying during the registration process) will be informed if their application is successful only via sms and this will be done on the following dates 18, 19 and 20 January 2017. If they have not received feedback regarding their late applications, they need to consider their application unsuccessful,” she said.
