The Gauteng leg of the Crown Gospel Awards’ Talent Search Competition, described by judges as very fierce, took place recently, where Nonhlanhla Matleng, an alumna of the Vaal University of Technology (VUT) secured third place. Nonhlanhla graduated with the following qualifications from VUT: A Diploma in Public Relations (PR), Advanced Diploma in PR and a Postgraduate Diploma in Higher Education.
Hailing from Kagiso in Krugersdorp, West of Johannesburg, Nonhlanhla embarked on her singing journey at the tender age of eight (8) in Sunday School. She later led the worship team in her church, and upon joining VUT, she became a part of the Student Christian Organization (SCO) worship team. She also began singing for Jubilee Praise and Worship, culminating in the recording of an album in 2017.
Elated by this achievement, she shared that this win signifies the opening of great doors for her. She expressed profound humility considering the entire experience and is eager for new ventures. Furthermore, she conveyed heartfelt gratitude for the unwavering support she receives from her family and friends.
Alongside the other winners, Nonhlanhla will join forces for an exceptional performance at the FNB Stadium on 26 November 2023 at the 16th Crown Gospel Music Awards.
VUT is immensely proud of Nonhlanhla and extends its heartfelt wishes for her continued success in her endeavours!
