VUT ALUMNI TEAM PARTICIPATES IN THE SECOND DRESS A SCHOOLCHILD CHARITABLE GOLF DAY

The Vaal University of Technology (VUT)’s Alumni Relations Department, in partnership with the Tseleme Social Club recently held their second Dress A Schoolchild Charity Golf Day. The event was held at The Els Club at Copperleaf Golf Estate in Centurion.
The event aimed to raise funds to boost donations made by the public on the social needs of historically disadvantaged communities. The social club is committed to making a difference by providing every learner in the Northern Cape and North West schools with uniforms.
More than 35 golfers took part in this year’s initiative, and each signed the pledge forms for the “Dress-A-Schoolchild “campaign.
Since 2016 to date, the charity organization has raised funds making a substantial difference in the lives of many learners across the two provinces.
Golfers together with the VUT Alumni team enjoyed their day, proudly sponsored by President Hyper (Bedworth Park), with refreshments and appetizers throughout the event. The VUT Alumni in corporation with Tseleme Social Club is looking onward to host future events of this countryside.
The next upcoming event will be held on 03 March 2023 at the Copperleaf Golf Estate, following the successful outcomes of the event.
On behalf of Tseleme Social Club, Bonolo Modise and Lekopane Mokonopi, encouraged the golfers to take advantage of the sponsorship opportunities that will be available and support the Golf Day by purchasing a four-ball alliance package.
Mr Peter Masombuka, VUT’s Head of Alumni Relations said the “dress a school-child” initiative remains a critical feature in the University’s alumni-ekhaya events. “We adopted this approach to add value to alumni re-unions, gatherings, general assemblies and all our engagements with the aim to foster fund-raising or friend-raising,” said Masombuka, adding that this in support of the VUT’s strategic goals under the umbrella of strategic engagement and participation.

Tseleme Social Club (TSC) was established ten years ago with the initiative to empower the development the dream of an African child by bringing development to communities through the VUT Alumni network. To date, the charity organization has worked and raised funds by making a substantial difference in the lives of many schoolboys and girls from the Northwest and Northern Cape Schools.
