VUT and partners celebrate Mandela Day
July 18 is a day for celebration and consideration of peace and humanity. It is a day where people around the world come together to honour the life of The Great Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela and his services to peace and humanity.
Mandela spent 67 years of his life serving others.
Nelson Mandela International Day was established in 2009 by the United Nations General Assembly in recognition of Mandela’s contribution to the culture of peace and freedom.
According to the Nelson Mandela Foundation: “Every year on 18 July – the day Nelson Mandela was born – the UN asks individuals around the world to mark the day by making a difference in their communities. Everyone has the ability and the responsibility to change the world for the better, and Mandela Day is an occasion for everyone to take action and inspire change.”
VUT and its partners did their share on Tuesday this week.
