The Vaal University of Technology is proud to announce that one of its employees is on the big screen.
Mr Moeketsi Montshitsi, who works as a Public Relations Coordinator at VUT Southern Gauteng Science and Technology Park has had a passion for acting since 2006, when he joined Viva Valia Theatre Productions at VUT as an actor. He has played in productions such as VUT Talk, Honey B.E.E, and Behind the Walls. All these shows were part of the National Arts Festival in Grahamstown.
In 2011 he was promoted as a director and directed productions at VUT including Naledi in 2011 and Classroom in 2013. In 2014, he directed ‘The strongest habit for man’ which was showcased at the National Arts Festival as well. He was part of the ‘Pitsa di a tsha’ show in 2014, when it received the award for the most promising production at the Gauteng Ishashalazi Festival.
He is currently running a production company called McubedH and is directing The Intellectual Property Show and The Science Show which showcased last year at the Sci-Bono and VUT/TIA National Science Week celebration. He worked with actors from shows such as Greed and Desire, Rhythm City, S’bondiwe, and Scandal.
His hard work has paid off and he got a call sometime last year to play the part of Baporofeta, a Basotho gangster, on Rhythm City which airs on e-TV channel.
“All the things that I have dreamt of… I believe that they are close because everything that I have done reflects back. And sometimes you will never know when an opportunity comes again, so you need to just grab it,” said Mr Montshitsi when he explained his journey and how good he feels about coming this far.
VUT wishes him well.
