VUT Enactus Team Gets Ready for Regional Competition

On Friday, 18 March 2022, the Vaal University of Technology (VUT), Enactus Team held its annual Campus Training at the VUT Centre for Academic Development Auditorium.
The aim of the session was to revive and restore the team, as well as give new members and the Enactus South Africa Coordinator, a heads up on how the team plans to tackle projects during regional, national and international competitions.
The team is gearing up for the regional competition set to commence in April 2022. Preparations have already begun to ensure they are ready for the challenge. As part of the training, new competitions were introduced and the legacy projects were presented and discussed.
According to Siphokazi Dlamini- Enactus President, fortunately for this year, on the MTN ICT challenge the Enactus teams can work with more than one agricultural, educational, or health-based company to eradicate problems in every sector. Other businesses/ projects the team is working on are:
· MAAGRI – a consulting and distribution service aimed at bringing technology into agriculture;
· Notes Technologies – a library in your pocket where students can exchange study notes; and
· MiTheraphy – which links anyone to a mental health specialist
Mr. Bheki Mdzikwa, Proramme Manager at Enactus South Africa was present during the training to offer advice.
“Society is currently facing job scarcity and the Enactus national office hopes that by the end of your journey, you will each be inclined and able to start up own companies,” he said.
Commenting on the team’s readiness for regionals and the meet-and-greet session, Ms Onica Matsheke – Logistics Lecturer and Enactus Faculty Advisor, said: “the session was a great success and the team needs more time to prepare for the regionals. Most of the team members came back last week. They are already working and pushing 100 percent.”
Enactus is about personal goals, skills development and driving the change the next generation would want to see in the world. The VUT Enactus team has participated in several regional, national, and international competitions, raising the VUT flag and brand high.
