VUT House Committees inducted to lead with confidence and competence

On 26 April 2024, the Vaal University of Technology (VUT), Living and Learning department hosted an induction session for the house committees – the event was held at the Centre for Academic Development (CAD) Auditorium.
The event, organized by the Student Accommodation and Catering department, aimed to ensure that house committee members understand their roles and responsibilities within the VUT community.
The induction session focused on equipping the house committee members with the necessary skills and knowledge to effectively lead and serve their peers. During the session, a special emphasis was placed on the importance of effective communication and leadership in guiding and uniting a diverse group of individuals.
Guest speakers such as Mr. Vusi “Bra V” Mdluli from the Institutional HIV and AIDS Unit (IHAU), Mr. Elliot Rakhomo from CAD, and Mr. Walker Masungwini, a lecturer in the accountancy department, were invited to share insights on leadership and the significance of communication in leading people. Their valuable perspectives provided the house committee members with practical strategies and inspiration to enhance their leadership capabilities.
Overall, the house committee induction was a successful and informative event that empowered student leaders to fulfill their roles with confidence and competence. The collaboration between the house committees and the student accommodation and catering department ensured a well-organized and engaging session that will undoubtedly benefit the entire VUT residence community
