VUT ICT department reaches out to Suncrest High School to assist learners with university registration for 2025 academic year.

Recently, the Vaal University of Technology (VUT) Information and Communication Technology (ICT) department conducted an outreach program for Suncrest High School grade 12 learners. The outreach programme aimed at assisting learners with their university application for the 2025 academic year.
Coordinated by the Department’s Community Service Team, the initiative was designed to provide guidance and support to learners in navigating the complexities of the university application process.
The outreach program commenced with members of the ICT Department Community Service Team setting up registration desks equipped with computers and internet access. The team offered one-on-one sessions to guide students through the online application process, answer queries, and provide advice on selecting suitable courses and universities. Additionally, information brochures outlining steps for successful application and registration were distributed.
During the process, it became evident that a significant number of students had not brought the necessary documentation such as identification, academic records, and proof of residence to complete their applications. Furthermore, discussions with students revealed that many were unaware of the application fees required or were unable to afford these costs at the time of the event.
In light of these challenges that were encountered, a follow-up session is planned to ensure all interested learners have the opportunity to complete their university applications. The ICT Department Community Service Team remains committed to assisting Suncrest High School learners in their journey to higher education. Despite the setbacks encountered during the initial event, the lessons learned will be instrumental in planning a more effective follow-up session. Through continued collaboration and improved planning, we aim to ensure that all interested students can successfully complete their university registrations for the 2025 academic year.
