VUT Male Netball Team Shines at Siyadlala League

From the 3rd – 5th of May 2024, the spotlight was one again on male netball sport as teams gathered in the Eastern Cape for the highly competitive Siyadlala Male Netball League – among those battling it out was the Vaal University of Technology (VUT) Team.
Led by coaches Jerminah Nteso and Bright Chauke, the VUT side showcased thrilling athleticisms, agility, teamwork, and tactical acumen, leaving fans and spectators on the edge of their seats throughout the event, while returning home with commendable three wins out of five matches.
With the growing popularity of the sport among male athletes, the Siyadlala Males Netball League stands as one of the premier platforms for male netballers in South Africa, featuring twenty-five (25) teams hailing from six (6) different provinces. Competing teams includes institutional powerhouses like Tshwane University of Technology (TUT), University of Limpopo (UL), as well as local favourites, thus igniting fierce competition and fostering camaraderie among players.
The VUT male netball team’s journey to the Siyadlala league was not merely about competing; it was about representing their institution with pride and striving for excellence on the court.
Coming back with three victories, the team hopes that their resilience and determination will serve as testament to the potential that male netball holds, moreover within VUT and will continue to act as a source of inspiration for aspiring male netballers.
As they reflect on their performance and celebrate their successes, the VUT male netball team may be proud of their journey and utilize it as motivation to keep going forward as they evaluate their performance and celebrate their victories. They will continue to pursue excellence on and off the court while upholding the principles of sportsmanship, perseverance, and dedication with the help of their coaches, teammates, and the university.
