On 3 May 2024, in the North West province, the Alumni Relations Department of the Vaal University of Technology (VUT) participated in the Tseleme Cares Foundation’s 6th Annual Charity Golf Day which took place at the Pecanwood Golf Estate and Country Club.
The Foundation is one of VUT Alumni Relations Office’s close associates, which was founded in 2019 by two VUT alumni, Lekopane Molonopi and Bonolo Modise, friends and homeboys from the North West province. Since the Foundation’s inaugural golf day, VUT has been a common feature of the initiative – from securing waterholes to having a stall at the event.
Themed: “Dress-A-Schoolchild Charity Par-Tee”, the primary objective of this initiative was to raise funds to donate school uniforms to underprivileged children. The event transcended the typical golf day, serving as a powerful platform for organizations to unite in transforming the lives of underprivileged children. Through their active involvement, these entities highlighted their dedication to advancing community growth and emphasizing the value of education.
The golf day attracted a diverse range of participants, including various sponsors, golf clubs, and foundations. Some of the distinguished attendees were the Dockey Tladi Foundation, Roggon Logistic, Munyai Swagg, Friday Pros, Marula Cheesecake Passion, Igalofu, The Palace Golf Club, Robedi Group, Proconics, Noko Sanctuary, KT Rachuene Attorneys, Golf Buddies, Dirabotle Projects, Sunday Ministries, Literacy for Life and ITU Golf Wear.
Against the scenic setting of the Pecanwood Golf Course located on the banks of the Hartbeespoort Dam, participants reveled in a day filled with cheered and spirited competition. While the atmosphere remained warm and welcoming, the overarching
objective remained clear which was to generate substantial funds for the provision of school uniforms to those who lack them.
During the prize-giving event in the evening, Mr. Jabu Sithole walked away with the title of Champion Man and Ms. Lungile Madela claimed the Champion Woman. It was a celebration of both achievement and humanism, where connections were forged, goals were shared, and deserving champions were honored.
The Tseleme Cares Foundation, the organizers of the event, expressed their gratitude to all the participants for their support. They emphasized that the funds raised would directly benefit the children who need it most, ensuring that they can attend school with dignity and pride.
