VUT Welcomes New Director in the Office of the VC
Ms Ndumi Lufele is the Director in the Vice-Chancellor’s Office

The Vaal University of Technology community is proud to welcome newly appointed Director in the Vice-Chancellor’s office, Ms Ndumi Lufele who joined VUT on 3 April 2018.
Originally hailing from the beautiful and scenic Eastern Cape, Ms Lufele has a passion for people and education. She studied at the University of the Western Cape (UWC) where she obtained a Higher Diploma in Education and then a BA Honours in Development Studies. She was fortunate enough to continue her journey with UWC after graduating. She worked as an Administrator to the Student Representative Council (SRC) for three years and then went on to work with the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (DVC) in Student Development and Support.
In 2008, she joined Universities South Africa USAf, which was then called Higher Education South Africa (HESA) as a Sector Support Officer. She describes her journey at USAf as an exciting one.
She’s now proud to be part of the VUT community and says she cannot wait to start sharing her ideas.
Not only passionate about education, Ms Lufele believes that her seven years at UWC and decade long experience with USAf has fully prepared her for her role at VUT. “Having worked at USAf has helped me to understand the challenges that the HE Institutions are facing,” she said.
She has always wanted to be in the higher education (HE) sector and sees herself nowhere else. Her role as the Director in the VC’s Office is to profile the office working hand in hand with Corporate Affairs, amongst her many other roles, she is also managing the Vice-Chancellor’s strategic external and international relations.
She says she wants to achieve a lot and has many ideas that she’d like to contribute. She looks forward to working with everyone and aspires to step up to the plate and make a big difference. One day she wants to leave a legacy, for people to remember her as a positive person who left a positive impact on other people.
