Welile Nyembe serves as the Head of Department for the Centre of Excellence at the French Southern African Schneider Electric Education Centre (F’SASEC) within Vaal University of Technology (VUT). In this role, she oversees the comprehensive operations of the center. Collaborating with a team of young and talented individuals, Welile is passionately committed to enhancing the lives of others, a pursuit that significantly bolsters her confidence and self-esteem.
F’SASEC was officially inaugurated on March 20, 2012, through a partnership involving VUT, the French Ministry of Education, Schneider Electric, and Sedibeng TVET College. The program’s primary objective was to empower underprivileged individuals in South Africa, particularly the Vaal community, by providing them with access to education and essential skills.
In addition to her professional roles, she is a mother, daughter, wife, and sister. She firmly believes that a steadfast dedication to one’s work is instrumental in cultivating high-caliber skilled professionals, a philosophy that greatly distinguishes the Center. Prior to joining F’SASEC, Welile headed the Department of Additive Manufacturing at Science Park, TTI, where she dedicated seven years to the department’s growth and development. With a foundation in Electrical Engineering, she transitioned to F’SASEC in 2020.
Welile obtained her National Diploma and BTECH degree in Electrical Engineering from VUT. Recently, she achieved an Honors in Post Graduate Diploma in Higher Education. Beyond her role in F’SASEC’s management, she derives fulfilment from imparting her knowledge, skills, and experiences, particularly to young women, helping them to perceive the world from diverse perspectives.
Aligned with this year’s theme she said, “I hold a strong conviction that as women, it is imperative for us to mutually foster empowerment. This practice stands as a cornerstone for the well-being and social advancement of families and communities. By providing an environment where women can lead secure, fulfilled, and productive lives, we enable them to attain their utmost potential and contribute their proficiency to the workforce, thereby nurturing happier and healthier generations”.
