From VUT to changemaker: Redesigning the room

In celebration of Women’s Month under the national theme “Accelerate Action; Speeding Up Gender Equality” and VUT’s theme “She Shapes Tomorrow,” we honour Mrs Beauty Mojapelo, a proud alumna of the Vaal University of Technology (VUT), whose academic and professional journey exemplifies purpose, power and bold progression.

Mrs Mojapelo’s academic foundation was laid at VUT, where she pursued the National Diploma in Marketing Management, a BTech in Marketing Management, and a Master of Management in Marketing. Her passion for shaping future leaders led her to complete a Postgraduate Diploma in Higher Education, reflecting her deep commitment to business and education.

Mrs Mojapelo is making her mark as Market Customer Activation Specialist in Henkel South Africa’s Adhesive Technologies division. In this role, she drives customer-centric marketing strategies across South Africa and key export markets, transforming insights into tangible impact.

Never one to rest on her laurels, Mrs Mojapelo recently completed a short course in Customer Experience at the Red and Yellow Creative School of Business in 2025. She is now preparing to begin her PhD studies, focusing on marketing, customer experience and digital transformation in South Africa.

When asked what gender equality means, Mrs Mojapelo responds with clarity and conviction: “To me, gender equality means more than just balance; it means bold redefinition. It is about creating space where women can lead without shrinking, speak without needing to soften, and rise without apology.”

For Mrs Mojapelo, this year’s Women’s Month theme is not a polite suggestion but a call to action. “We have talked long enough. Now is the time to act. I use every platform I have in business, education and leadership to open doors wider, challenge bias louder, and build spaces where women are not just present, but powerful.”

“I do not just want a seat at the table,” she adds. “I want to redesign the room.”
