SUPPORT FOR VUT POVERTY ALLEVIATION PROGRAMME

Donors from President Hyper, staff and the beneficiaries

On Wednesday, 12 April, President Hyper donated Easter packs to students who are registered through the Student Counselling and Support Department of VUT.  Donations were handed out in the foyer of the Desmond Tutu Hall to delighted beneficiaries who expressed their gratitude for the donation.

A very excited Analytical Chemistry student said: “When I received a call I was scared because I owe the University fees. I was under the impression that the call was from the credit management office regarding my outstanding fees.  As soon as I heard the name President Hyper I got excited wondering if we would receive food hampers just like last year.”

President Hyper Vaal adopted the VUT’s poverty alleviation programme a year ago through the office of the Director:  Marketing and Public Relations.

Students said that they appreciate the contribution from President Hyper and urged them to continue with this charitable work.

Ms Vicki Basson, General Manager at President Hyper Vaal, said her store supports its community through various projects.  She went on to say that they appreciate the support that the store gets from its customers since this enables them to give back to the needy.
