VUT ANNOUNCES COMMENCEMENT OF CLASSES FOR 2022 ACADEMIC YEAR

The commencement of classes on Monday, 28 February 2022 marked the official start of the 2022 academic year at the Vaal University of Technology (VUT).
VUT is a contact teaching and learning institution. However, due to the current pandemic and protocols that need to be adhered to, the institution has opted for a blended teaching and learning approach.
For the 2022 academic year, the institution will continue using the Emergency Remote Teaching (ERT) and continuous assessment (CASS, a series of mandatory tests) to accommodate all students.
All students enrolled for first-year modules will return to the classroom for a third of their classes; approximately an hour per week will be face to face, all other teachings will be online. (33% face to face / 66% remote teaching). Students enrolled for final year exit level modules will have the assessments (CASS) occurring in classrooms on campus.
All students attending practicals, including Advanced Diploma and Postgraduate students up to PhDs, will be required to return to campus for their practical classes.
Registration closed on Sunday, 27 February 2022. But Cancellations and Additions will be allowed until Friday, 04 March 2022. This is to allow students the opportunity to resolve registration queries.
Students are urged to come to campus only if there is a mask to mask class. Such invitations will be announced on VUTELA by the relevant academic departments.
