Learners of Lekoa Shandu Secondary School

On Friday 22 July 2022, the Vaal University of Technology’s (VUT)Department of Marketing, Retail Business and Sports Management held a Career Guidance programme at Lekoa Shandu Secondary School in Sharpeville.

The aim of the programme was to guide learners about programmes offered by VUT as well as provide more information related to the Marketing, Retail Business and Sports Management courses.

In his welcoming address, Mr Khehla Mokoena, Lekoa Shandu Deputy Principal expressed profound appreciation to the VUT team. He said their school rarely gets such visits as they are often forgotten. He added that the timing of the visit was perfect for the learners as they are already preparing for the trial examination.

This career guidance was prepared explicitly for grade 12 learners pursuing commercial and semi-commercial subjects, mainly because they are compatible with the retail business management career path.

VUT’s Student Recruitment Practitioner: Dimakatso Jingela, together with the rest of the team, explored the prospectus, detailing career paths and opportunities at VUT, funding and bursaries, and they also explained entry requirements and the application process. In more detail, they informed the learners about diploma qualifications in retail business management accompanied by a powerful motivational video prepared by Ms Zinhle Dlamini- Lecturer in the Department of Marketing, Retail Business and Sports Management.
