The Meridian Rustenburg School hosted its annual career exhibition on Friday, 21 April 2017 for their grade 7 until grade 12 learners. The Rustenburg Department of Education requires each school to host its career day for grade 9 -12. However, the Meridian decided to include their grade 7 leaners so as to expose them to the various fields of study as well career paths available to them.
The exhibition was highly informative, a grade 7 Learner, Tsholanang said that the she found the career exhibition to be exciting, she received a lot of information relating to her love for cooking, she now knows which subjects to choose to pursue a future career in the hospitality industry.
Ms Nita Boshoff, an organizing committee member and Afrikaans teacher, said, “The career exhibition is so important us, especially for our learners, they become exposed to career options and subject groupings from as early as grade 10. Our Grade 12 learners benefit more because after the exhibition they come and request for assistance with universities application forms.”
Ms Boshoff further thanked VUT for its participation in the exhibition. “It has never disappointed us, it is always so supportive and it is the biggest group. When VUT does something, it goes big, it doesn’t go small, VUT is the best – I so love it,” she said with excitement.
