Community Engagement
In the 2024 academic year, the department has embarked on a deliberate and ambitious community engagement project. The project is structured to advance scholarly and impactful community engagement and partnership activities. The project christened Success Through a Healthy Infrastructure Project seeks to nurture an active interrelationship of the existing Physical, Social, & Political Infrastructure. The project has been initialized. This project will involve partnerships with local communities, local municipality, and corporate stakeholders to facilitate infrastructure projects, and disaster risk reduction efforts, fostering a positive impact on society while enhancing the department’s teaching and learning experience.
The objectives of the project:
Strengthen relationships with local communities and organizations, establishing the department as a reliable partner and resource.
Provide students with opportunities to apply knowledge and skills in real-world settings, enhancing their learning experience.
Increase public awareness and interest in Civil Engineering, inspiring the next generation of engineers, technologists, and technicians.
Contribute to the social, economic, and environmental well-being of the communities in which the projects are implemented.
Support the department’s overall goals in teaching, research, and community engagement.
To develop projects that will unlock the value of communities, business, institutions, and individuals to create safe, clean, and thriving business environment through infrastructure maintenance, research and development, education, and training.
