VUT is proud to spotlight one of its shining graduates, Ms Shantel Modiba, who recently obtained her Diploma in Food Management Services. Her story is one of tenacity, balance and entrepreneurial flair.

Originally from Polokwane in Limpopo, Ms Modiba is more than a graduate. She is a thriving content creator, mom influencer, fashion and lifestyle enthusiast, and founder of Shantel’s Kitchen, all while embracing her role as a young wife and mother of two.

Reflecting on her accomplishment, Ms Modiba shares, “Graduating was always part of my goals, but doing so in a field I’m passionate about was the ultimate reward. Balancing life’s demands wasn’t easy, but I’m grateful and thrilled to have achieved this in record time.”

Ms Modiba’s success extends beyond academics. In 2024, she collaborated with Capitec Bank on two campaigns and is currently working with McDonald’s Big Mac as a marketing strategist. She attributes her success to her online and offline authenticity, which has led to exciting opportunities through emails and direct messages.

For Ms Modiba, social media is more than just a platform but a tool for growth. She explains, “You just post your work, and someone will eventually need your services. Building brand awareness is essential, especially for small Black-owned businesses where client trust is key.”

Her advice for balancing life? A supportive partner and prioritising family time are pivotal. “If I’m not working, I’m with my family; it’s that simple,” she says.

Congratulations to Ms Modiba on this incredible achievement! Her journey is a testament to determination, passion, and staying true to oneself. We cannot wait to see what she accomplishes next!
