Important Information About Academic Applications

First year applicants

Applications for admission for the 2027 academic year will open on 21 May 2026. The closing date for national applicants is 30 October 2026, while international applicants closing date is 30 September 2026. However, please note that applications for the following programmes will close on 31 July 2026:

• Bachelor of Education in senior phase and FET Teaching
• Diploma in Safety Management
• Diploma in Labour Law
• Diploma in Information Technology
• Diploma in Logistics
• Diploma in Agricultural Management
• Diploma in Policing
• Diploma in Labour Law
• Diploma in Legal Assistance
• Diploma in Human Resources
• Any additional early closures will be duly communicated

Applicants who will be applying using results from a Technical and Vocational Education and Training Colleges (TVET Colleges), should follow this process once an application is submitted.
To email the administrative personnel that is associated with the Department in which the programme applied for is housed, with the Assistant Registrar copied. The staff support list link is on the VUT website under https://vut.ac.za/how-to-apply/

Be reminded that registration is and will always be on a first-come, first-served basis. Spaces are limited to the quota set per programme. Therefore, the acceptance of an offer does not automatically guarantee registration.

Applicants who have received their final matric results will only be able to view and apply for qualifications they are eligible for. The system will automatically match your results to the appropriate qualifications.

Applicants who have already completed grade 12 or have their final grade 12 results and qualify for both Mainstream and Extended diploma, are advised to select the mainstream programme as their first choice.

Senior applicants

The opening date for all other programmes from advanced diploma to PhD will be communicated in due course. The closing dates for these programmes will be communicated during the year.

Payment of application fee

7.1. Where the system prompts you to pay the application fee; you are requested to submit the payment online.
7.2. Applications for the 2027 academic year will follow a new process for the payment of the application fee.
7.3. Applicants will be required to submit the payment for the application fee on the application portal prior to being granted the option to submit their application.
7.4. Once the application fee has been processed online, you may proceed to submit your application on the system.
