The Vaal University of Technology (VUT) Enactus team took part in the national competition, held at the Sandton Convention Centre from Monday,8 – Tuesday9 July 2019, and managed to secure a place in the final round.
Under the 2018/2019 leadership of President Maria Mashitja and Vice-President Kekeletso Malule, the VUT team managed to achieve the following awards at the competition:
- Ms Onica Matsheke, the team’s faculty adviser and an entrepreneurship lecturer in the Logistics Department, received the 2018/2019 National Faculty Adviser of the Year Award. Her prize includes a personalised trophy, spending money and an opportunity to travel with the winning team from Durban University of Technology (DUT) to represent South Africa at the Enactus World Cup, scheduled to take place from 16-18 September in Silicon Valley in the United States.
- One of four winning teams for the MTN IT competition where students will have an opportunity to start their own IT business, work with and get financial assistance from MTN.
- One of the four winning teams for the Nedbank Competition which gives students an opportunity to explore their skills at Nedbank.

The VUT Enactus Club is involved in projects such as Clorganic, Heartbit, Genesys, Envirohab and the Intsika Agricultural Project as well as continuing past projects.
