The Vaal University of Technology (VUT), through its Student Recruitment Department, recognised top-performing maVUti ambassadors from five schools in Gauteng and the Free State with examination gifts on 15 October 2026. The initiative celebrated their academic efforts and encouraged them to remain focused on their studies.

The maVUti ambassadors represent VUT within their school communities, helping to connect the university with prospective students. They share information about study opportunities, inspire fellow learners to consider higher education and contribute to building a positive image of the institution. Their role extends beyond promotion to making information about VUT more accessible to learners considering their next steps.

The participating schools were Sucrest High School and Mohloli Maritime School in Gauteng, and Kgopoleng Secondary School, Cedar Secondary School and Thuto Ke Lesedi in the Free State.

According to Ms Morongwe Miya, Student Recruitment Officer at VUT, the ambassadors were selected for recognition based on their academic performance and potential. The handover offered an opportunity to acknowledge their hard work and encourage them as they worked towards completing their examinations.

“Although the handover took place within a limited timeframe because the learners were busy writing their examinations, the significance of the initiative extended beyond the gifts themselves. It demonstrated VUT’s commitment to recognising learners’ achievements and encouraging them to continue pursuing their educational goals,” Ms Miya said.

Examinations demand preparation, discipline and perseverance. The gifts provided a gesture of support during this demanding period, reminding the ambassadors that their efforts were recognised and their ambitions valued.

Through the maVUti ambassadors and its broader school outreach initiatives, the Student Recruitment Department continues to strengthen relationships with schools and prospective students. These engagements help learners explore study opportunities and make informed decisions about their futures.

By recognising the ambassadors’ academic achievements, VUT encouraged them to pursue their own educational goals while continuing to inspire others.
