Nanomaterials Research
Nanomaterials (nanophosphors) are used for practical and lighting applications like LED (light emitting diodes) phosphors and displays (screens). Also, for less obvious ones like in medical diagnostics, security features as in bank notes, energy conversion phosphors for harvesting solar energy.
The Nanophosphor research in our group focuses on improving optical properties by doping with various transition and rare earth ions, engineering new band gaps, and fabricating mixed-nanophosphors materials.
Research activities in our group include:
- Synthesis and characterization of nanomaterials.
- Doping with various transition and rare earth metals.
- Crystal structure, particle size and morphologies are investigated using XRD, RAMAN, FTIR, TEM and SEM instruments.
- Optical properties are studied using PL and UV-Vis.
