The Innovation Hub is an organisation that was established by the Gauteng Provincial Government and its mission is to promote the socio-economic development and competitiveness of the province through innovation. One of their enterprise development initiatives is eKasiLabs.
The purpose of the eKasiLabs programme is to establish co-creation and innovation spaces in the townships where local communities are able to access the services and facilities offered at The Innovation Hub. Extending these services and facilities to the townships also seeks to re-industrialise the community and create employment for the youth in their areas of residence through skills and enterprise development.
A number of programmes have been scheduled for the Southern Gauteng Science and Technology Park’s Ekasi Lab Sebokeng, which is facilitated by Expression Hub, PR Marketing Communication Consultants, and one of those programmes is the Bootcamp workshop which will be hosted on 8 February from 9am-5pm. This one-day workshop will teach entrepreneurs how to base their business using the Business Model Canvas. They will be trained how to pitch their ideas to potential investors and have the opportunity to have their ideas incubated.
Fifty people with innovative ideas are required to take part and explore their entrepreneurial skills for this programme. Following this event, there is going to be a startup weekend which will be taking place from 17 to 19 February.
