The Vaal University of Technology Alumni North West Chapter, the leading Alumni chapter in community engagement programmes from VUT, held a brainstorming and networking family day at the Shaguma Garden Café in Midrand on 9 September.
Since the launch of the chapter back in 2012, there has been a slight decrease in reunion attendance and active participation from the Alumni members. In light of this, the session was aimed towards getting the Alumni together to discuss the challenges that they have been facing, come up with ideas and strategies on how to overcome those challenges and revive the NW chapter as well as to network with other members. Furthermore, it was also intended to get pro-active suggestions and proposals on how to keep the chapter as meaningfully engaged as before.
Alumni came with their families for some lunch and drinks and there were fun activities, like jumping castles, for the kids.
Alumni Relations is looking at exploring other revenue streams as well as being committed to sharing graduates’ success and career stories with the world through their diverse publications and Alumni networking platforms. This is to showcase that VUT will forever remain: “Your world to a better future”.
