The Co-operative Education Department at VUT has hosted its annual Employer Function on 11 November 2016 at BON Hotel Riviera on Vaal.

The Co-operative Education Department at VUT has hosted its annual Employer Function on 11 November 2016 at BON Hotel Riviera on Vaal. The theme of the evening was “Empowerment through Skills and Entrepreneurship”. The function was attended by the Vice-Chancellor: Prof IN Moutlana as well as the Deputy Vice-Chancellor: Prof K Dzvimbo, Director: Co-operative Education: Mrs A Moletsane and other members of staff including the different campuses and industry representatives.
The purpose of the function is to celebrate the recognition of the distinguished employer organisations that have demonstrated a consistent commitment to advancing South Africa’s workforce and most especially employing VUT students for the purpose of Work Integrated Learning, Internships as well as permanent placement. Nominated employer organizations was rewarded with certificates for their outstanding contribution. A total of 23 companies received certificates said Mrs A Moletsane: Director: Co-operative Education.
From January to September 2016 the Department has managed to place 1 630 students in industry to complete their WIL. The cooperation and assistance of industry is crucial for the success of the placement rate.
A live musical performance by TeamSpokenWord, a young dynamic music group from VUT consisting of four singers and songwriters, and singer Jennifer Jones provided entertainment.
The overall function was deemed a huge success.
