Rus-ter-Vaal High School leaners, Acting Principal and VUT delegates
In a captivating and forward-looking endeavour, Professor Michael Klink of the Chemistry Department and Dr Moses Peleyeju from the Centre for Academic Development (CAD) at the Vaal University of Technology (VUT) have joined forces to amplify the learning opportunities available to Grade 12 learners at Rus-ter-Vaal High School, in Vereeniging led by the acting Principal Mr Jacobus France.
Taking place from August to November 2023, this initiative is poised to elevate the academic journey of learners while reaching deeper into the realms of Mathematics and Physical Sciences. These specialised classes have been thoughtfully scheduled to align with the academic calendar, occurring each Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm at VUT’s Maths Centre. Central to this collaborative venture is the shared ambition to nurture an ethos of educational excellence, seamlessly blending the expertise of the Chemistry Department and CAD. This program aspires to deliver a comprehensive learning encounter that transcends conventional classroom instruction, with a pronounced focus on Mathematics and Physical Sciences.
The core objective of this initiative is to equip learners with a robust foundation that not only promises success in their forthcoming Grade 12 examinations but also establishes the bedrock for their future academic pursuits. In the planning to host these sessions on the VUT campus, meticulous precautions have been taken to ensure the safety and adherence of all participants.
“Our aspiration is to cultivate an atmosphere where learning extends beyond textbooks into the realm of practical application and intellectual exploration. By harnessing the excellent facilities at VUT and fostering a dynamic exchange of knowledge, we are dedicated to arming these young minds with the necessary tools for triumph,” articulated Prof Klink from the Chemistry Department.
The collaborative synergy between these two academic entities underscores the paramount significance of teamwork in education. By harnessing their collective proficiency, the Chemistry Department and CAD seek to kindle a fresh wave of enthusiasm for Mathematics and Physical Sciences. This initiative stands as a resounding testament to the unwavering commitment of these establishments in contributing substantively to the educational panorama and empowering the forthcoming generation of scholars.
