Vut Fashion Students Ace Bernina Competition
Inspired by the multi-coloured coat of Joseph in the Bible, two VUT third-year Fashion Design students, Noxolo Helu and Michalene de la Port walked away with top prizes at the annual Bernina competition.
They were selected amongst other students and given a brief to design a multi-coloured coat.
Michalene took first place and won a sewing machine and an over locker worth R80 000 while Noxolo took second place in the completion and also won a sewing machine and an over locker worth R40 000. The duo also secured R35 000 in Bernina vouchers for the institution.
Both students say they are very excited to have participated and won.
Noxolo has also been nominated to take part in the Edcon Designer Challenge for 2017 and Michelle will be studying towards her BTech next year.
