Representatives of Liquid Telecom SA (LTSA) had an opportunity to meet and greet the 2020 bursary holders during an online meeting held on Monday, 24th August 2020.
The purpose of the meeting was to outline the bursary obligations to the nine (9) approved VUT students registered for B-Tech and Advancement Diploma in Information Technology. Through the bursary agreements, VUT students will have an additional advantage to apply for job opportunities at LTSA as and when they become available. These students, (5 males and 4 females), were each granted a study support bursary to the value of R100 000.
Liquid Telecom SA (LTSA) signed a memorandum of understanding with VUT in 2017 in support of the “Champion a Student Campaign”, which the University launched in May 2017. Through the campaign, LTSA has been supporting VUT students registered for B-Tech Information Technology with funding towards class fees, accommodation, meals and learning materials. LTSA has funded 30 VUT students over a period of three years to the value of R47 000 per student. The qualifying criteria of 65% average pass rate enabled selected students to benefit from this funding.
VUT students expressed their appreciation for the opportunity and the support from both VUT and LTSA. Ms Kediemetse Mokotsi, Director: Marketing & Public Relations thanked LTSA for their commitment towards the University and wished students all the best as they progress towards their “World to a Better Future”.
In closing, Ms Ashira Lukhan, Senior Manager: Talent Management and Organizational Development, responsible for Learning and Development, said “as LTSA we are grateful that the existing relationship with VUT is growing stronger each year. Our intention is to sustain the relationship going forward as we believe that growth is only possible with the right partners”.
