VUT hosts business management short learning programme for African students

On 16 February 2026, the Faculty of Management Sciences at the Vaal University of Technology (VUT) hosted a dynamic Short Learning Programme (SLP) for external students from across Africa. The programme focused on Business Management and aimed to equip participants with practical knowledge and skills to strengthen their entrepreneurial ambitions.

The session was facilitated by Mrs Onica Matsheke, a Human Resource Management lecturer, who guided students through key principles of business management and leadership. The auditorium was filled with enthusiastic participants eager to broaden their understanding of the business environment and apply the knowledge within their respective countries.

Ms Manini Kganakga, Short Learning Programme Manager at VUT, said, “You should be proud of yourselves for choosing to invest your time in learning and personal growth. The knowledge you gain here is an asset that will empower you to create opportunities and make a meaningful impact in your communities. Never underestimate the value of continuous learning and self-development,” encouraged students to take pride in investing their time in personal and professional growth and to recognise the value of continuous learning and the importance of using acquired knowledge productively. The event was efficiently coordinated by Mrs Peggy Bojabotshega, Administrative Assistant for E-skills and SLP at the Centre for Academic Development (CAD), who ensured that all logistical arrangements were professionally handled.

Students expressed appreciation for the opportunity. One participant, Mr Tshepang Motloung, shared that he felt inspired and motivated, as the programme aligns with his dream of starting his own business in the future. Another attendee, Mr Matthew Rhoda, thanked VUT for creating a platform that allows young aspiring entrepreneurs to explore business management in greater depth.

The initiative reflects VUT’s ongoing commitment to knowledge sharing, skills development and strengthening partnerships across the African continent.
