The Vaal University of Technology (VUT) Library successfully hosted its annual Online Research Sprint Seminar from 26 to 29 May 2025, under the inspiring theme: “Pathways to Research Success.”
The event brought together emerging researchers, postgraduate students, academic staff, and supervisors from diverse disciplines, reaffirming the Library’s vital role in strengthening teaching, learning, and research excellence at the University.
Spanning four days, the seminar served as a dynamic platform for knowledge sharing and capacity building, with sessions anchored around four core sub-themes:
· Kickstarting Your Research Journey
· Conducting Literature Searches
· Analysing Your Data
· Reference Management Tools
Esteemed VUT professors, doctors, lecturers, librarians, and invited external experts delivered insightful and high-impact presentations aimed at equipping participants with practical skills and effective research strategies.
Delivering the opening address, Dr Simphiwe Nelana, Deputy Vice-Chancellor: Research, Innovation, Commercialisation and Internationalisation (DVC-RICI), lauded the collaborative effort between the Library, the academic community, and the Research Directorate. He emphasised the significance of the seminar in advancing the University’s research capacity.
